Carbon Offset Program
Resources Legacy Fund offers carbon offsets for any travel associated with projects or programs that we fund. We purchase offsets that meet the Kyoto Protocol Gold Standard certification and support renewable energy, energy efficiency, and reforestation. Resources Legacy Fund’s goal is not only to reduce our contribution to climate change, but also to increase the awareness of our grantees and contractors of the environmental impact associated with travel.
This is an optional service provided to grantees and contractors at
no cost.
We encourage you to use this free service although your decision will not affect your current or future funding
decisions or modify your grant, contract, reporting requirements, or scope of work.
Carbon Offset Instructions

1. Go to the carbon calculator:
www.resourceslegacyfund.org/pages/carbon_calc.html.

Travel Eligible for Carbon Offsets
-
The portion of air and vehicle travel funded by Resources Legacy Fund.
-
The portion of air or vehicle travel associated with a project or
program funded by Resources Legacy Fund. For example, if Resources Legacy Fund provides funding for 50 percent of travel, a program, or a project; please enters 50 percent of travel related to Resources Legacy Fund’s contribution.
We understand that this may be difficult to estimate, but we appreciate your efforts.
Travel Ineligible for Carbon Offsets
-
Personal travel. Resources Legacy Fund encourages grantees and contractors to consider their own personal carbon footprint and to take steps to limit or offset their emissions. Sustainable Travel International offers a public carbon calculator for individuals, which allows for individuals to offset personal travel,
household energy consumption, lodging, and gifts
(www.sustainabletravelinternational.org).
-
Commuting or daily travel.
